I know its a smidge early – but its nearly my favourite time of year. I love halloween and I have been making these goodies just for you. We have Frankie, Skelly, Pumpkin Witch and Death himself!
What is your favourite time of year? Let me know?
Is there anything else halloweeny you would like me to make?
It’s that little bit chillier in the morning and dark when I get up – admittedly that’s around 430/5am but still, I never used to get up before the sun.
It looks like autumn is heading our way fast. I must say that it is my favourite time of year, not to hot, not too cold and lots of lovely colour in the fallen leaves.
What is your favourite thing about autumn?
I have to say, Autumn is also my favourite because I get to make these gorgeous balls of orange squishyness!
It's been a while....and I have some free stuff for you.
Like all of us, sometimes overwhelm hits. I have been working on a new business as well as keeping my amigurumi zoo in check and making sure the crochet plants grow in time for Christmas!
So, to make up for my absence, I have a couple of freebies for you.
One is a gift from My cactus adventure – A cute planner for you to download and the other is from my new business. it’s probably only relevant if you are in business yourself, but you never know, it might help with day to day life.
The planner below is called a Time blocking journal. It helps to plan all the work you have in a week in an efficient way. It contains details on how to time block as wekk as 98 pages of time blocking grids. I hope you find it useful.
Until next time – I hope you have a great week ahead and see you soon

Tiny is my hardest working member of the team. A brief fling with Buzzfeed fame has made her a little bit of a diva, but we all love her just the same.
She may be small in stature, but she has a whole lot of attitude and 💖.
You can visit tiny here………
As we come to the end of Mental Health week, I would like to speak a little about the magical ability of crafting to ease some of the stress and sadness that modern life can bring.
It has been scientifically proven that participating in a creative activity can lower blood pressure and boost serotonin levels ( the happy hormone). This happens, even if you are finding getting to grips with the craft difficult.
I find that the repetitive rhythm of crochet or knitting is somewhat similar to meditation. I have great difficulty sitting still and doing nothing, so traditional meditation does not come easy to me, however, I can easily shut out the world when I have a hook in my hand.
Crochet has brought me out of the other side of some very dark times and is my sanctuary. Watching the fabric grow is somewhat magical and knowing that you have created something from a single strand of yarn and a hooked stick is in itself soothing to the soul.
There is also the power of community, it doesn’t matter what craft you favour, there is a community out there for it. Crafters are wonderfully supportive and help is not only limited to the technical aspects. I have made some fabulous friends in “stitch and bitch” and “make and create” groups, both in person and online.
My Cactus adventure has a fledgling facebook group, which of course you are welcome to join. It’s in its early stages, but there is always someone around to give a helping hand if needed – you can join it here – https://www.facebook.com/groups/1418532388254860/
Here is also a list of Mental health groups –

Neville is the quiet type. Discovered chilling under a rock around a year ago, he has become a firm favourite here in the Prickly World. Neville is a shy guy, likes to hang out in shady spots. He is somewhat of a hoarder – If you see a collection of rocks forming, you know there is a Neville around. Although he may be shy, he is an excellent listener and liked nothing more than to lend a fluffy ear.
We have some sad news though. Neville is now an endangered species. The planet that provides the very special dna string needed to grow a neville has been destroyed in a freak accident involving a leaf blower and a misplaced stick of TNT. Fortunately a small supply has been located on planet garage – but sadly, once this is exhausted, there will be no more Nevilles………
Cherish him while you can.
if you would like to visit Neville, you can do so here.
A seed fallen from the bird feeder, you could say she had a lucky escape. Trodden into the soil by the gardener's boot, sunny lay waiting. The rain came and the sun shone and sunny felt a warmth growing in her heart. The warmth grew until she could no longer contain it in her tiny seedcase. Slowly she reached up, pushing toward the sky. Rising up, up up until she towered above the other plants. Then, something strange happened, an odd feeling overcame her. She felt a joyous feeling that she could contain no more and her face opened up, beaming, surrounded by a halo of yellow sunshine that lit up the world around her. Sunny had finally found her true mission - to spread that feeling of joy and happiness and to make everyone around her explode with happiness.
These days, sunny likes nothing better than to chill out on a brightly lit windowsill. Although, she is equally happy to bring light to a dark corner if the need arises. She is an avid conversationalist however and does like to chat if given the chance.

My name is Sarah and I am Head Horticultural Yarnologist at My Cactus Adventure. I do have and assistant but he is usually off cultivating dinosaurs and the like. We also employ a hairy hound who attempts to quality check if I were to let him but is easily distracted and usually late for work.
My Cactus Adventure started life as Emilylovesbagpuss, but I thought once we became world famous then the estates of Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate wouldn’t be best pleased. One day, a regular customer said “Im going to take my cactus on an adventure” and there you go – My Cactus Adventure was born.
My crochet pals have since travelled all over the world and one of them even had his own instagram account for a while. Many of them now live over the pond and in places like Germany, Belgium and even Thailand.
What was once a hobby for “Pin money” has now become a way to support my son and I ( and our menagerie) and I truly do appreciate every purchase made and put a whole lot of love into each of my creations
